1024 Ways To Win

Many online slots utilise a 'multi-way' betting system. You can find plenty of slots that feature 243 or 720 ways to win. 1,024-ways-to-win takes things to another level.

1024 'ways to win' do away with conventional 'paylines'. Instead of a set, designed payline, awards are given out if you simply match symbols on adjacent reels.

There's no chance to select paylines; you just play ALL 1,024 'ways' with a fixed stake spread over the whole lot. This can mean the need for a big bankroll, but the rewards can be huge.

What are 1024-Ways-To-Win Slots?

Most 5-reel online slots feature 10-50 paylines which are laid out clearly in the Paytable. They run left to right, and to earn a win when you land matching symbols along those paylines.

Multi-way slots work differently: they reward prizes if you simply land matching symbols on reels next to each other.

1024-ways-to-win slots work in this way, and pay out if you land three or more matching symbols from left to right on the reels.

  • How They Pay: Left-to-right, right-to-left, centre three reels
  • Developers: IGT, WMS, Microgaming
  • Stake: 40-80x coin bet
  • Common Features: Four rows, five reels, stacked symbols, Wild symbols, Free Spins

How Do They Work?

Typically, 1024-ways slots will feature standard five-reel layouts but with four rows instead of the conventional three.

You'll have to bet a fixed amount across all 1024 ways - in other words, you HAVE to bet all ways in any spin - but you can change the size of the coin before you spin.

Unlike 720-ways or 243-ways slots, winning combinations can run from left-to-right on the reels, but some developers also allow combinations to run right-to-left OR across the central three reels.

Popular 1024-Ways Online Slots

Several slots developers have 1024-ways slots in their portfolios. Most are played on a 4x5 reel set but the ways they pay can differ hugely.

Some titles pay left-to-right only while others pay right-to-left too and even across the centre three reels. Whatever games you play, it's vital to have a decent bankroll as you could be betting up to 50x your coin bet on every spin.

Arctic Fortune (Microgaming)

A more conventional 1024-ways slot, Microgaming's Viking-themed Arctic Fortune is a great online slot that is played across four rows. Unlike IGT (see below), "paylines" run from left to right only. However, to make up for it there is a huge Free Spins bonus - with 40 spins and a 6x multiplier available - and a bonus award of 9,000 coins.

Miss Red (IGT)

Another of IGT's MultiWay Xtra range of slots, Miss Red features an incredible maximum bet of £2,250 on each spin thanks to the developer's 1024-ways system.

Players bet a fixed 45 coins per spin, but with coins ranging from £0.01 to £50 every wallet is catered for. The 'End2End' feature - triggered during the base game - sees special icons expand horizontally across a row to award bigger wins.

Crown of Egypt (IGT)

IGT's 1024-ways slot - actually part of their MultiWay Xtra range - features four rows and lots of action. In fact, players have two choices: a straight 40-payline game or 40 paylines PLUS the 1024-ways option. In effect, each of the 20 spots on the reels acts as a separate reel, giving players loads more action.

Only two Scatters are needed to trigger a Free Spins bonus feature, with 10-20 spins awarded.

Why Should I Play 1024-Ways Slots?

Variance is an oft-overlooked factor of online slots. But knowing how often you're likely to win is even more important when playing 1024-ways-to-win slots. It's no good playing 100 spins of a 1024-ways slot without a big win if you don't have the bankroll to manager it.

Because you're betting such a large amount on each spin, therefore, don't attempt these games if your bankroll is tiny. Even at small coin bets, you need a healthy bankroll to manage the inevitable swings. 1024-ways slots can be volatile so you'll need lots of cash to bank on a better long-term profit.

It's good to find games with lots of stacked symbols. Because 1024-ways games pay out for just hitting adjoining symbols, you can hit a lot of wins at once if the symbols stack. Some slots feature Stacked Wilds too for even more added wins.
